The Customer: Result Clothing, one of the most trusted outdoor clothing brands in Europe, with over 6000 SKU across 6 brands and 450 unique products.
Requirements:
Result Clothing reached out to us looking to replace their Linx continuous inkjet printer, which was printing dates on their labels before they are applied to their boxes. This system was costing them too much in consumables and maintenance, as well as the downtime required for regular cleaning. They were looking for something easier to use, more reliable, and less expensive to maintain.
The Challenges & Solutions:
To find the ideal solution for Result Clothing, we suggested fitting an IP3000 thermal inkjet printer directly onto their NOVEXX ALS/XLS 20x label applicator. This way, we would not take up any additional space in their factory, and would not require any additional sensors as we could use the signals given by the label applicator.
Upon visitation, it was established that the signals given by the label applicator were not sufficient to trigger the printer and therefore a solution was required to invert and lengthen the trigger signal. Due to the wraparound design of their labels, which are applied around the corner of their boxes, we also had to set the printer to complete 2 prints for every 1 print signal on an accurate and consistent basis. Once all of this was achieved, print position and quality was assured.
Result were impressed with the higher resolution printing delivered by the IP3000 compared to their previous continuous inkjet system, and the machine operators themselves were pleased with the extremely low maintenance solution; all that is required each day is to add the cartridge and switch the printer on, with the message updating automatically. There is minimal cleaning required due to our specially designed ink-recycling, no-mess cartridges, and there is no routine service required on the machine, making the long-term cost of ownership very affordable.
